general information
Early retirement schemes and the staffing needs of the market mean that employees leave the company early or retire. The earlier still qualified passing on of knowledge, where an older experienced employee is joined by a young employee who later reliably fills the position of the predecessor, no longer corresponds to today’s reality in companies, with a few exceptions.
So with each employee, the knowledge and experience already gained leaves the company. The current damage to German companies is already threatening their existence in some areas.
It is therefore recommended that the employee continuously archives his knowledge and, in the last phase of his presence, that a qualified interviewer passes on his knowledge to the company. These can be contacts as well as complex project experiences. Most valuable are the mistakes made and solutions to problems, which must be comprehensively documented in such a way that they can be found again according to subject areas and keywords. Both the archiving and the use of existing knowledge requires structures and procedures, otherwise the newly created store of knowledge remains untapped.
